The Future of Flash Gaming

Today's joint announcement by Mochi Media and FreeSpin3D gives flash game fans a peek into the future of flash games.
The two companies are sponsoring a $20,000 contest for developers who use FreeSpin3D's technology to design 3D games on Adobe's Flash platform. FreeSpin's proprietary approach lets gamers see true 3D graphics on the fly and brings a third dimension to flash games. According to the press release, the technology "...allows real-time rendering of 3D content on two-dimensional environments, such as Web browsers and power limited low-end devices such as mobile phones."
FreeSpin will grant temporary, trial licenses to developers for the contest.
For those concerned that flash games were a limited development environment, the press release shows that flash game technology is still progressing and keeping pace with other types of gaming, including PC-based client, client/server, and platform-based gaming.
Playstation & Nintendo - watch out. 3D is coming to a flash game site near you.
